This
recipient, Dylan, was diagnosed with AML leukemia in
October of 2011. Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a
cancer of the
myeloid line of blood
cells, characterized by the rapid growth of abnormal
white blood cells that
accumulate in the
bone marrow and
interfere with
the production of normal blood
cells. AML is the most common
acute leukemia
affecting adults.

you note to Cherished Creations, Dylan wrote:
I was so
excited when I woke up yesterday morning to the UPS guy
knocking on my door with my gift. Thank you so much. The
guitar is beautiful and the cabinet and head is so
awesome. It even comes with a built in tuner for the
guitar and a guitar case which is excellent. Thank you
again, you made my day. I’m so happy. I still can’t
believe it! This guitar will definitely be coming with
me to CHOP for my stem cell transplant to help me pass
the time. I currently jam with friends but I have not
been in any band since sophomore year of high school. I
had a lot of fun when I was in it. I'm hoping when this
is over I will be able to get back into a band.
And a
personal thank you to your founder, Mr. Grande, you have
made me so happy during this struggle in my life. Your
organization is a blessing. Thank You.

This recipient, Laura, was diagnosed with
Metachromatic
Leukodystrophy (MLD). MLD is a genetic disorder that affects nerves,
muscles, other organs, and behavior. It slowly gets worse over time.
Laura, a Baltimore Ravens fan, wished to attend a Ravens game and
meet some of the players. Her wish was fulfilled on December 24,
2011- Christmas Eve. After the wish was granted, Laura's parents
wrote:
"Our
family wants to thank you for our tremendous experience at the
Ravens Game on December 24, 2011. The past few months has included
issues that few people ever have to go through, let alone a young
lady. Laura's recent diagnosis and subsequent bone marrow transplant
occurred within a short span of 3 months; this progressive condition
will last a lifetime. The strength of Cherished Creation's
partnership with the Baltimore Ravens Community Relations fulfilled
an ultimate dream for Laura and offered Laura this lifelong memory,
one which she still can't stop talking about. ... It was a great
game, a great win and she met 11 of the Ravens players after the
game and got their signatures! I just wanted to thank you so much
for the wonderful Ravens experience that you gave to Laura and to
our family! It is a Christmas Eve we will never forget. Thank you
for all you did to make her wish come true!"
